Tips and advice to reach the BBC

Without a story-telling culture in your organisation the BBC is out of bounds!
And given that many of their channels are now – in magnificent glory – just down the road from thousands of North West and wider Northern-based businesses – I think that’s a bit of a shame.
BBC journalists, researchers, producers and presenters are alive and kicking and close to your business.
They work for 10 national television channels (including BBC Red Button interactive TV), 10 national radio stations, national TV and radio stations in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and over 40 local radio stations for England.
That is a lot of people looking for news. And according to the latest audience data up to March 2012, over 46 million of us are merrily consuming it every week.
Contrary to popular belief they do give commercial organisations a namecheck – but only within the context of a good story.
So we told them about the launch of our Bridge the Gap campaign to close the loophole relating to dentists practising without insurance. BBC Radio Five Live’s Sheila Fogarty health slot on a Friday and You and Yours consumer rights flagship programme on BBC Radio 4 featured the issue.
And we talked about the launch of a revolutionary new bionic suit which is helping get spinal cord injury patients up on their feet and walking. So BBC Radio Five Live’s Double Take programme on Sunday morning and BBC Radio Cambridge’s breakfast programme took test pilot case studies from us capturing the sheer joy of being able to walk again.
And then we mentioned the fact that one of Britain’s oldest sweetie businesses was about to produce its two billionth mint ball – and the BBC – both national, regional and radio – and quite a lot of other people, captured the event for everyone to enjoy. You really can’t make that sort of thing up, which is the whole point.
One of the most important measures for the BBC is whether the programming is fresh and new. Recent data says 70% of people believed this to be true. Your stories, launches, inventions, unique experiences contribute to that treasured measure.
If you have a story which would make great BBC content text us on 07866 676123.
I guarantee an impact on your business.
